The purpose of my blog is to reach those who are feeling overwhelmed with life and bring them back to the essence of what is important...health, happiness and living as your true authentic self.

Why is WHEN & HOW you eat just as important as what you eat?

Do you ever skip breakfast or eat dinner too late at night? Do you at times swallow or “inhale” your food instead of chewing slowly? Perhaps you eat your lunch at your desk, distracted by your emails? Or maybe no matter how healthy you are eating, you still get symptoms of bloating or indigestion after your meals? If you do then this is for you, as WHEN & HOW you eat is just as important as what you eat! HOW you eat your food is extremely important as the digestion process starts from the time your food enters your mouth. Saliva contains digestive enzymes which make it crucial to chew your food well so you break the nutrients and fiber down properly, ready for the next stage of the digestion process. However often in today’s busy world, you might be preoccupied when eating your meal such as sitting in front of the television, eating at your desk or even eating on the run in a rushed manner. You might even just give no thought into the process of how you eat; subconsciously swallowing your food quickly because you are hungry or it tastes good! Unfortunately this shortens the first process of digestion, the chewing! When you do not chew your food properly or when you are not in a calm, relaxed environment to be able to digest your food properly, your food is not broken down for the next stage of the digestion process and not enough digestive enzymes are created from your saliva which may result in bloating or indigestion after your meals. My Top 3 Tips to Lose Weight

Hi Beautiful, Weight loss is something that every woman seems to struggle with. No matter what size you are, I bet there are still times when you analyse every part of your body in the mirror only to leave you feeling a bit insecure with what you see. To me, losing weight is not about fitting a societal mould of the ideal size you think you should be or what society pushes on you, but it is about finding what is healthy for your body type and effortlessly being able to keep the excess weight off through a healthy state of balance. As women it is natural that our body weight fluctuates a little, whether it’s due to stress, hormones or something else. So before you do anything else, I beg you…….please ditch those scales, be kind to yourself and start being confident and rock the body you are in now – no matter what size or shape you are! 5 tips to stay healthy during the holiday season!

Hi Beautiful, Since the silly season is fast approaching and as this is my last blog for 2015, I thought it appropriate to run you through my personal tips for staying healthy over the holidays.....1. Do not deprive yourself of your favourite indulgences, just find the healthier option! Deprivation does not work and it is why I don’t believe in dieting. When you feel you are depriving yourself of something, you are more inclined to crave that food or think about it more. Decide what meal you would like to indulge in and allow yourself to have a little, would you rather let your guard down for desert or a nice Christmas brekkie? Read More

How is stress impacting your health and what you can do to "stress-less"?

Hi Beautiful, Do you race through your day desperately trying to get to the finish line to only end up completely exhausted, wired and tired? Do you have stubborn weight that you just cannot shift despite your great diet and exercising? Do you sometimes forget to go to the bathroom, eat or breathe as you are too busy trying to get to end of your email list or are running from meeting to meeting? Do you get thrown “off course” and feel like you personally take a hit when a stressful situation in your life arises or someone is difficult to you? If the answer is yes to the above, you are not alone as this is the story of so many women, including myself! My natural “default” mode is to run through life at 100 miles an hour and I have had to work hard at re-training myself to slow down and relax into my days. You see life is a very long time, it is a marathon, so we need to pace ourselves to be able to last the distance without burning out and most importantly…so we can enjoy it! Read More

How to kick your sugar cravings!

Remember when you were young and hurt yourself, your parents gave you a lolly to cheer you up and comfort you? When you were at the dinner table and you were told that if you ate all your food, you would be rewarded with desert? How about when you won an award at school or achieved something in sport, you were taken for ice cream to celebrate? These behavioural patterns from our childhood are often engraved in our subconscious mind and as adults we find it very hard to simply use willpower to kick our sweet cravings to the curb due to the strong emotional attachment we have to these “sweet treats”.The word “treat” can have a powerful hold on us. We treat ourselves during times of stress, during times of celebration, times of sadness and discomfort. We often feel we need a “treat” to pick us up or reward us in some shape or form and often this is in the form of something sweet and sugary which can be to our detriment. Read More

Anything Is Possible...

“Some people say I dream too big, I say…they dream too small” I still clearly remember laying in my hospital bed looking at Mum, Dad and Ben and sobbing with despair…chronic fatigue…what did that mean? Did it mean I was going to be like this forever? Unable to live my life, bedridden forever? I was so afraid of what the future would hold. Was I going to be able to have kids? A job? Would my relationship last? Would I play sport again? Function again? Would I be able to just go for a walk or cook a meal…? How could I have gone from such a high, coming back from the national women's hockey tournament to lying in a hospital bed, completely unable to do anything for myself or function? I just couldn’t comprehend it and was beyond devastated at the limiting life I would seem to have…But life is bitter sweet and always surprising. There are lessons to be learned from every challenge and a silver lining to be found. Without the dark, there would be no light. Read More

What is EFT and how can it help you heal?

Hi Beautiful, I am so passionate to be introducing you a wonderful healing modality called EFT (otherwise known as emotional freedom technique). EFT can be classified as a breakthrough in energy psychology and is being used worldwide to heal the body and mind. EFT is unique and what I love about it, is that it combines Eastern wisdom about acupressure, or "meridian points," in our bodies, with traditional Western psychotherapy. "Acupoint tapping sends signals directly to the stress centers of the mid-brain, not mediated by the frontal lobes (the thinking part, active in talk therapy)," explains Dr. Church, Ph.D., who has been researching and using EFT since 2002. Because EFT simultaneously accesses stress on physical and emotional levels, he adds, "EFT gives you the best of both worlds, body and mind, like getting a massage during a psychotherapy session." Personally, I used EFT to help me work through emotions which were trapped and weighing me down. It gave me an enormous amount of freedom and detachment from my issues and most importantly it removed all emotional energy blocks allowing me to heal properly body and mind. I recently completed my Level 1 Certification with the highly talented Alison van Vuuren from HappiSoul. Alison is an AAMET Accredited Practitioner and Master Trainer with over 8 years’ experience in EFT & the Matrix Re-Imprinting technique, specializing in PTSD. Check out my interview with her below to find out more about this brilliant emerging healing modality and how it can help you!
